The main tournament among veterans had a new format this year. It was open for all chess players aged 50 or older. Before this age level was set at 60 years old and older. As a result the “young” veterans won prizes.
After a nine-day struggle, four participants showed the best results – it was 7 points out of 9. And Viktor Ivanov (Moscow) won The RSSU chess Cup among veterans of Moscow Open 2020.
The best tie-break performance allowed Alexandr Chernyaev (Arkhangelsk region) become the second; a Bronze medal went to Igor Glek (Moscow).
Evgeniy Kalegin (Republic of Bashkortostan) became only the fourth in the table.
265 chess players participated in this competition.
