Sergei Yuferov is triumpher of the Tournament among veterans “Victory Contemporaries”

International Master from Moscow Sergei Yuferov was out of competition in the Tournament “Victory Contemporaries” among veterans born in 1945 and older. Started with 6 wins Sergei Yuferov made a draw in 7th round with Yuri Zhelnin (Kaluga district) and scored 6,5 points out of 7 possible. This allowed him to take absolute first place.

Igor Sinelnikov (Moscow) become the second with half a point behind the leader. Yuri Zhelnin (Kaluga district) and Vladimir Drozdov (Moscow) gained 5,5 points but the best tie-break indicators allowed  Yuri Zhelnin to get a Bronze medal.

Galina Melnik took the first prize among the women.  She scored 3,5 points and could break away from  Natalya Belyaeva, Nadia Goncharova(all from Moscow) and Evgenia  Kupinskaya (Saratov district) according to the tie-break indicators.

It is worth noting that the tournament “Victory Contemporaries” is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War was held for the first time as part of The RSSU chess Cup Moscow Open-2020.
